An independent magazine about the culture of pastry art. This is not the La Tarta bakery's website; we do not take orders or sell cakes.

Reading Lists

Reading lists are paths through the magazine built around a specific interest. Each one tells you where to start and why to keep going, so that individual pages add up to a complete picture of how dessert became part of celebration, art and book culture. You can follow the paths in any order: they overlap, and the same page sometimes appears in more than one list because it answers different questions.

How we choose: a list includes only articles published in the magazine, ordered from general to specific. We don't include links to shops or bakeries, and we don't rank the "best cakes": taste can't be checked against sources, but history can.
